BAD ROADS.
To the Editors of the Evening Stab. Sib, —I would draw the attention of the authorities to the almost impassable atajte of the road between Shortland and Ohinemuri—smalLs Culverts nearly all broken through; you,, .would think they were,allowed to be so'to entrap the traveller and keep the country shut,out from the second largest city in the North Island. .What is the reason the Guvernmentdoesn'tbridgetheKauaerangastream, when a private company can destroy the public crossing by diverting the stream out of its proper channel, thereby making the public crossing much wider. The present Government must bo led or be in league with a private power in Auckland that can direct their .movements. Settles.
