AUCKLAND.
This day. Mr J. C. Sextie died this morning, under circumstances which led to the •'fear that he had taken poison. He went home last night in a despondent stato of mind, and under the influence of liquor, and lay on a sofa. At four o'clock this morning, hearing a noise, his wife went into the room and found him in the struggles' of death. She sent for Dr Hooper, but Sextie was dead before the ! doctor arrired. A cup containing a few crystal, like strychnine was found in the room, trat no anal} sis has yet been made. The deceased had lately been in straightened circumstances.
James; Nixon, Onehunga^ has been committed for trial on. a charge of stealing a horse the property of James Waller. . The Cross to-day-Cjontradicts the report that -the A.S.P. ; Company; - intend purchasing the Hero.
