Tho following figures, showing the number of births and deaths registered in the Thames District during the month of May, have been obligingly furnished by E. H. Power, Esq., Registrar:— Deaths ... ... ... 49 . Births ... ... ... 41 Excess of deaths over births 8 Of the deaths 7 were adults and 42 infants. Of the adults one death was paused by. accident, and another was sudden, 5 being from natural causes; To tho infantile diseases which have prevailed for the last three months the excessive mortality is attributable, namely measles, dysentery, bronchitis and a few cases of typhoid fever. A favorable change has been noticeable during the last few days, few deaths being reported.
