Fatal Rsrilwity Accident.

A fatal accident occurred on the railway last evening. The diiver of a train from Auckland to Ellcrslie, on arrival at the latter station about five o'clock, reported that he had met with an obstruction on the line about midway between Kemuera and" Ellerslie, which the. engine jumped over. A man was despatched down the line ; when at the spot indicated he came upon the mangled remains of a man who had evidently been run over by the train. The body lay across the metals, the skull being cut in twain, and buo of his; legs severed from the rb6dy. Life was extinct. The,remains were picked up and conveyed by return train to the Auckland .Railway Station, where the police identified the body: as that of William Shiells, a notorious vagrant, who was lately discharged by the Magistrates upon, bis promiie to go to Waikato. He was last seen at the races with- gambling appliances. *F IJponexamination last evening it was found that the severed leg was ;missin«j, and one of the police was despatched to find it.
