BRITISH TRIBUTE.
In this mine, the tribsters, T^oble and party, have put in a tunnel 120 feet in, and about 50 feet lower to .more easily work the leader from which they had previously crushed some 20 tons with fair results. On tapping the leader in the tunnel it had nipped out to very small dimensions, and in stoping up it made again, but here it was not so good as above, and last week they finished a crushing of some 13 tons at the Hape battery, which resulted in 8 ounces of gold ; up to where they left off no gold had been seen in the stone, and hence they did not expect much. It is expected that their next crushing will prove a little better, as on leaving off thay had commenced to see gold in the stone in knocking down. They have done a great deal of dead work, and it is hoped that their next parcel, which they will send to the mill in about a fortnight, will prove more remunerative.
