Mr McDermbtt of the above licensed holding is now putting through at the Prince Alfred battery two tons of stone, on trial, which will be completed to-mor-row, and is expected to go over one ounce to the ton. Another parcel taken from the same reef, and crushed at the Hape Creek with fresh water, returned nothing; this is attributed to the use of fresh water, and it would seem ito be a very reasonable assumption, too; since the same class of stone at the Prince Alfred, where the Big Pump water is used, promises to yield over an ounce to the ton. The lode from which the stone is taken is well known^ and at one time was looked upon as an exceedingly good lead. Should the present trial crushing turn out to be satisfactory operations will be commenced in earnest, to obtain a good crushing- ..'
