The Auckland Evening Star last night contained Sir George Grey's opening address to the Provincial Council in full; the Echo had not, a line of it, nor of the opening of Council except a reference to it in a leading article.
We have received the Auckland Provincial Government Gazette of Saturday last, containing the notifications of changes in the personnel of the Provincial Executive ; a notice under the Highway Boards Empowering Act, and a notice of meeting of the Native Lands Court.
The attention of executors, administrators, legatees and successors is called to a notice under the Stamp Duties Act, which appears in our advertising columns.
We believe JMissH Grace Egerton, whose Protean entertainment posesses a world "wide celebrity, will shortljr pay a visit to the Thames in company with her 'husband,.Mr George Case, to give a series of entertainments. Miss Egerton is well "billed," and her little books ar« in everybody's hands. Miss Grace Egerton's entertainment is pne which few old colonists would confess.to not haying seen. A slight fire occurred at the Bright Smile works last night at a late hour. It appears that a fire was lit in the small boiler which has for some time been out of use, and the chimney (a small iron one) being foul, the soot caught fire, and burded till it was consnmed. For a few minutes the vicinity was lighted by the blaze, which attracted the attention of Mr Binney, the company's manager, and he at once took the necessary steps to smother the fire. i-
