AWFUL EFFECTS OF BAD MANUSCRIPT.

The other day a compositor in thiioffice got hold of a part of a page of the chirography of G. M. D. Bloss, of the Cincinnati Inquirer. It isn't writing at. all, but Bloss seems to kick the ink bottle at the sheet of paper and then sends dojra the paper to the compositors as editorial^- 1 This part of a page was used as the foundation of a plot to deliberatey destroy^ a human life. A. lino or two was writtei^ above it,. Bloss's page, marked " solid," and it was handed to a " comp.," who had just struck the office. He claimed to bo " lightning . on the " set;" and on reading manuscript, and he set up the introductory line like a whirlwind. 'When lie came down to Bloss he grappled for a cap " A," held it for a second, and then dived into the "V " box.' Then he threw, that back, and picked out a dollar mark, and the typo paused, spat on his hands, - and rested one foot on the cross-bar of his rack. After a moment he grabbed-a " ffi," but slowly replaced it, and toyed with an italic " Z." Then he spat on his hands once more, corrugated his brew, and hauled the manuscript under his eye«. It was no go. He held the page further off, close to his noso, slanting to the tight, and square before the window, but ho couldnt stand' it, and he knew in his soul that no other human compositor outside of the Inquirer could do it..' An afternoon faded into twilight, hd laid the Eage aside, set up two or thee lines out of is own head, and slipped into his coat, and said he'd got to go to the depdt to see a friend, and he was gone. In his stick he had set the words :—" Tell my mother that I will meet her on the other shore." He probably will. He wm seen at the foot of Griswold-street, heard ;to ask if death by drowning-wasn't easier than hanging, and it is probable that his form now lies at the bottom of the coid green river, while Bloss is a jnurderer.^Detroit Free Press. • " :"
