Tairua Goldfied.
Two rushes are reported as having taken place on Saturday, one to the vicinity of, Comes and Climo's reef being cauvsed, it is supposed, by the ; statement in the Thames Advertiser that l7olbs of stone yielded 2dwts 17 grains of gold. The other ;rus^h was fb some locality--on; the tra#k between Puriri and Pakirarahi, ■ but,we did notleam-the exact locality, or the causeof the rush. ; ■ ■ .?. At Scanlan's/leasej Pakirarahi, south, east of the Prospectors' area, a goldbearing \ leader six inches thick has ; been cut, and \ good prospects , obtained. The share-, holders in this lease are to meet at Mr ; D. G. Macdonneirs office this evening to form a company. The original shareholders have great faith in the ground, rA number of natives were in' town to-day, and one party say they have obtained 10 ounces of gold from 50 lbs of stone at Tairua. There is no confirmation of, the statement that we know of further than the Maories are spending money freely.
