.Retorting for the above took place on Saturday night, the result being 661 ozs 10 dwts of gold. This was from a fortnight's run at the Kuranui battery, but it must be recollected that for some time after crushing was started 30 head only were engaged. Hence, if the stone being taken out but maintains "its present quality during the ensuing fortnight, which there is no reason to doubt, a very much improved yield may be looked for.
