TIMARU.

Tuesday. A curious church squabble is going on. The. Rev. George Foster, incumbent for 14 years, is now resident in parish. The congregation are trying to get rid of him. He refuses to resign. The Bishop has been appealed to, and urges resignation. He threatens to cancel the license. Foster still refuses. It is expected the parishioners will withhold the stipend. This is the first case of the kind in the colony.

The game season is unusually lat«, but birds are very plentiful since the late rains. Four guns bagged 267 head near Timaru on Monday. Black swan are in great numbers —flights of from 122 to 100 frequently passing over towards the lakes. They arc allowed to be shot for the first time this season. ~~
