AUCKLAND.
This day. Sir George Grey has delivered. Air award in the case of Shera v. Reed and Brett, and Reed v* Shera> for alleged libel, arising out of the publication of a letter from Hannaford relating to the Tauranga Relief Fund. Shera claimed £1000 for reflections upon him contained in the letter complained of, and a counter claim of £1000 had been put in by Reed against Shera for an epithet made use of in a letter to the Herald reflecting upon Reed. TKe arbitrator has decided that written statements shallbe forwarded to him within seven days by both parties; by Reed and Brett expressing reeret that Mr. Hannaford's letter appeared, and their jsatisr faction that Shera and trustees were actuated by honorable motives in dealing with the fund; from Shera withdrawing the language complained of by Reed. •These statements to be handed by Sir George to parties entitled to them, with permission to make them public. No award is made regarding costs, thus leaving leach party to pay expenses incurred b> them. The laborer Galvin, thrown from his horse oh Sunday, has died from concussion of the brain.
