been resumed in this mine, under the superintendence of Mr Thomas Scott, formerly undergound boss. Mr Scott having an excellent practical acqaintance with, the ground, and, having asserted that he could lay his hand on the gold, was appointed to the manage* ment, and pro red his calculations to have been correct by going straight to the lode, which is the old specimen leader, leading up to the surface. Here a very good show has been obtained. The only obstacle to progress now is the want of water for crushing purposes. There are over 60 tons of stu.fi in the paddock attached to the company's battery, bu* nothing can be done pending the present dry weather, as the 'creek is thoroughly exhausted. For the came reason there are only a few men .at present engaged in the mine—more would have the effect of overcrowding the paddocks, the reef being so large., • '
