CROWN PRINCESS.
Mr Beeche is holing the ground comprised in the Crown Princess area* in all directions. Sinking the main shaft lias been going on for some time now, the present depth below the old level being 70 feet, so that the entire depth of the shaft is now 270 feet. Opening out will be. resumed immediately. In fact the first of timbers are now being placed in position. At each end of the drive on the No. 2 leader—running N.N.E.—there is a winze being sunk, Nos. 1 and 3 respectively. Operations will be commenced in the old specimen leader on Monday. At* present the shaft is full of gas to the windlass, but the manager says he must have men at work in it by Monday ; ■ and purposes placing a furnace at jthe end of drive in which the shaft is sunk; by Which a draft will be caused and the gas cleared* In all other directions there is complete ventilation. The stuff is looking very fair. The leader* being taken out of No. 1 winze averages about one foot. Operations now are chiefly devoted to these lower levels. <■.:'
