SIR GEORGE ARNEY'S RETIREMENT.
Sir George Alfred Arriey, Chief Justice ; of the ; Colony, tookleare of the bar on Wednesday afternoon. The bar was represented by a large gathering of its members. Mr F. Whifrk«r, ; the senior member, acted as spokesman, 'and, after referring to the long career of Sir George Arney as Chief Justice, the good feeling which had ercr eii*fed between bench and bar, and the thorough impartiality which had characterised. Sir George's decisions, he .took learn of the .retiring judge in feeling terms, on behalf of the bar of New Zealand.
