John Pitcairn Stevenson, second clerkassistant to the House of Bepresentalives, died this morning of heart disease, brought on by rheumatic fever. H. W. Brewer, Esq., senior, landing waiter, who leaves for Auckland on Tues day next to take the position of landing surveyor there, Was last night presented with a handsome clock by' the officers of the Customs Department as a small token of respect and -regard. Mr Brewer is much esteemed and liked in Wellington.
