RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT
THISDAY. Before W. Davis and E. W. Puckey, Esqs., J.P's. DRUNKENNESS. Alexandra Stewart was charged with having been drunk and incapable off Grey street, Shortland, on the 13th inst. Defendant was on tiail,"and forfeited the amount thereof. j Francis Kane was charged with having been drunk and disorderly in Pollen street, --^hortland, on the 13th inst. Defendant thade a statement to the effect | that he had only been a little excited. Constable Furlong was examined as to hia arrest, and his manner of conducting himself prior to that. VAGEANCT. Francis Eane was charged also with haying committed a breach of the Vagrant Act, having been three times convicted of drunkenness within the preceding three months. Defendant pleaded guilty. The Bench sentenced him to three months'imprisonment. - Francis ]£ane appeared to be possessed \of a sensitive nature, and to be over " affected by his position. He blubbered, and remarked that it was very hard. DEUNKENNESB. John Farrelly was charged with having been drunband incapable in Brown street, Grahamstown, on the 15th inst. Fined 10s and costs ; or the usual alternative. Henry Hughes, convicted of an offence similar to the above, was fined 10s and costs ; or 24 hours' imprisonment. SUSPICION OF LUNACY. - Annie Miller was brought up on suspicion of being of unsound mind. Mr Bullen said the woman was remanded, for medical examination. He put in the certificate of Dr Payne, and asked that she might be discharged. Discharged accordingly. The Court adjourned.
