THE OHINEMURI JUMPING CASE.
(To the .Editor of the-Evening Star.) i Sib,—ln your issue of Saturday, in importing the case Eae v, Mitchell in the 4|P6lice Court, you state that "Mr TVf itchellapologised for his impulsiveness.'' I have to say that I did no such thing, and that I have not the very remotest intention of doing it. I was placed in illegal arrest, by James Mackay, junior^ in one of those intemperate outbursts of brute passion, for which James Mackay, junior, is becoming' somewhat too remarkable. There was no row and no difficulty at the time, and not for hours before ; and I only say now if every Fourpenny Commission Agent of the Government can assert, on his own authority, and without, as in this case, any charge being laid, it. is high time that these matters came into the purlieus of a Court of Law. The assertion that I agreed to pay damaees is also false.—l am, &c, -' .« C. F. Mitchell Te Pura o Te Eangi, Ohinemuri, Feb. /. [Mr Mitchell is in error for once. JNo assertion of the kind was made in our report of the case, Eae v; Mitchell.—Ed. J
