FIRE IN GRAHAMSTOWN.GRAHAMSTOWN.

! The Grahamstown fire-bell gave out ! its warning note this morning at 1 about half-past twelve o'clock, and enquiry discovered that the fire was in a shed at the foundry of Mr Seager. .The cause of the fiire was. that a detached door had been placed alongside the furnace of the foundry, the heat from which had. the effect of setting fire to the door, and the shed, being in close proximity, was at once caught up in a blaze. This blaze was seen by Mr Harris, one. of the Grahamstown firemen, who > immediately gave the alarm, which awoke and called to duty the Brigade, who were .on the scene of the fire in a very short space of time from the first indication of alarm; They must be complimented upon their exceeding expedition. Fortunately, however, their jerrices were riot required, as Mr Seager and others had in, the meantime been actively engaged in extinguishing the flames. The shed was pulled down and water played upon the burning timber. Gfafcamstown has certainly experienced some marvellous escapes from fire—more, there is something almost providential in the numerous instances we have had of fire occurring in the very midst of crowded Grahamstown, without the disastrous results transpiring which, it is aLway prophesied, must result. Regarding this last little conflagration, there, was less to fear than in other cases, since the supply of water in that locality is very large.
