CHURCH PARADE.
It appeared to have been arranged th*t the Representatives would hold a church parade, and as- yesterday happened.to be the IN aval Brigade monthly parade, it was determined to hold a general parade of all the Volunteers., *. The turn-out of the different companies was not so good as we have seen on occasions of Sunday parades previously; the 'grey companies especially did not make a gocd appearance. The Narals arid Thames Scottish Volunteers marched to Grey street, and brought in the Representatives from the camp, the Bands of the respective companies playing alternately during the march thence to Pollen street, where they were joined by the rest of the volunteers. It is to be re- | gretted that the Volunteers of this district I should give occasion to be spoken of in any terms othersoever than those of commendation, but we cannot fail to remark upon the want .of punc • tuality evinced yesterday, and as i punctuality is a-^haracteristic which should be essentiaLin* soldier, a little more attention to this particular in future will be more creditable to the Volunteers themselves, and a cause of less inconvenience to the general public, which was much felt yesterday by those who attended St. George's Church. The service was delayed fully twenty minutes waiting for the advent of the Volunteers, and during the time spent in awaiting their arrival the organist performed a number of voluntaries—it is presumed with the object of amusing the congregation, whose patience was tried considerably. After the service was finished the Volunteers assembled in Mackay street, whence they marched, headed by the two bands. Qn reaching Pollen street the Thames Scottish, No. 2 Hauraki Volunteers, and Thames Bangers filed off, and proceeded to Grahamstown, headed by the Scottish band, and the Representatives were conducted by the Naval Brigade and band, Wo. 3 Company, and the Parawai Corps, as far as Richmond; street, when the Navals turned and marched to Grahamstown, leaving the,. Representatives to returnto Parawai, and the two companies mentioned to disperse at their respective halting places, > ' \-: ' ■ ■ ■
