Auckland, This day. John Thompson, manager at Quick's, was brought up at the police Court today charged with embezzlement of various sums amounting to about £80. Mr Quick wanted to withdraw the charge, but the Magistrate wouldn't allow it. Remanded till to-morrow.
The little girl Cecelia Allen, charged with arson at the North Shore, was committed for trial.
Mr Prime was elected Mayor without opposition. - .
Arrived: Lady Bird. Madame Goddard'g concert last night was a brilliant success.
Dunbdin, This day. Mr Macandrew. turns the first sod of the ocean Beach and Peninsula Railway on Tuesday, so that it may be completed to Forbury by March for the race meeting.
