Mining Accident.
Misfortunes never come singly, and it has been found true on the Thames that one accident never occurs but other* follow in its wake with fearful accuracy. Scarcely had the news of one occurrence of this iind reached us this afternoon when news is heard of another. A man named Adam Fletcher met with an accident in the Ural claim to-day at about halfpast two o'clock. Fletcher was working in a drive at the 80 feet level, and whilst so epgaged a piece of ston? fell out fr&m the wall of the drive and jammed his leg against the other side. The stone would weigh about 1 cwt., and Fletcher's leg was jammed terribly, though it was not ascertained at the time whether the leg was broken, the supposition being that it was not, as Fletcher could work the toe on the foot of the jammed limb. He was immediately carried by his mates to the Hospital on a stretcher, and his wound, from which the blood.fl©wed freely, was attended to with despatch.
