THIS DAY. (Before W Fbasbb, Esq., R.M.) DBUN KENT*'ESS.

Henry Brown was charged with having been drunk and disorderly in Pollenstreet, Shortland, this morning at 1 o'clock. Defendant pleaded guilty, and was fined 20s, or 48 hours' imprisonment.

DAMAGING A COAT

The same person was charge d with maliciously damaging one uniform coat, of the value of £2 12s 6d, the property of Constable Martin Furlong, to the value of £1. The offence took place atone o'clock this morning

Sergeant Elliott informed the Court that this man had been living in the house occupied by Annie Miller (committed to gaol yesterday), and had made demonstrations of violence towards Constable Brennan when he Trent there to get Annie Miller's clothing. He had subsequently become fightable near Butt's, and wai locked up by Constable Furlong. In reply to the Bench defendant said h#had been on the Thames seven years, But had never been before His Worship before. v ' ■ His Worship said he appeared to have bees keeping anything but aristocratic company, and advised him to avoid' such society in future. Now that the woman and defendant were separated, he might behave himself: and taking this view of the case a fine of Is would be imposed, defendant to pay 20s for damaging the coat; in default, 14 days' imprisonment. ' SUSPECTED ITTNATIC. Edward Burns—a fisherman—was brought up on suspicion of being of unsound mind. Sergeant Elliott said the man was evidently suffering from delirium tremens. He had rushed into the Police Station, being possessed with the idea that he was pursued. / Remanded for three days for medical examination. ... ■ STRAT JIGS. William Gordon was charged with a breach of Bye-law No. 3 by allowing two pigs to wander, and was fined 2s and costs. Ehe Court adjourned.
