Sir —- Clark's Government are bent upon de\ eloping the great resources- of the Malayan Peninsula. 3500 disciplined Chinese troops under General Tong arrived in eight steamers at Formosa. 3000 more to follow. A great typhoon at Hong Kong and Macao caused great loss of property and life. A severe earthquake occurred in Japan.
