THE MURDERER'S CONFESSION.
T)yer made the following confession to Bishop Cowie an hour before he was executed this morning :—That on the 9th July, when excited by drink, but not in a state of intoxication, exasperated by a statement made by ELza Batter«ea, he poured kerosino oil over her, with the intention of frightening her into a[: confession of certain matters.'- He bad no thought of causing her death: That'lkset fire to Eliza Battersea's hair supposing he could put it out agnin before serious harm was done. That to screen him the woman did say, before her death, that she had accidentally upset the kerosine feeder upon her clothts. The Maegregor is signalled.
