RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT
THIS DAY. ("Before W. Fbaseb, Esq., 8.M.) DRUNKENNESS. Charles H. Witcher was charged with having been drunk and incapable in Owen-street, Grahamstown, on the Ist instant. Defendant pleaded guilty, and was fined in the usual amount. TBANSFEE OF LICENSE. Frederick Cassin applied for the transfer of the license held by him for the Queen's Head Hotel, Grahamstown, to James Stewart. The necessary papers were put in, and tlie application was granted. ANOTHER. Thomas Clarke applied for the transfer of the license of the -Rising Sun Hotel, Golden Crown-street, Grahamstown, to William Swindells. There being no appearance of Mr. Clarke, and the necessary papers having been put in, the application was allowed to stand over for a day. (Mr. Dodd subsequently appeared for applicant, and the application was granted.) . CIVIL SIDE. JOSEPH ABDEBN V. J. WILSON.
This was a claim of £3 10 s, balance of account due to plaintiff. There was no appearance of defendant. Joseph Ardern was examined, and said he was an undertaker and had conducted the funeral of defendant's step-son. The amount originally was £610s. Witness had received £3 and the £3 10s balance was now sued for. j Judgment was given for £3 10s and costs. HULME V. WIBEMTT TE HUIA. This was a claim of £3 5s for goods re.ceived. by defendant, a native, who appeared to confess the liability, and judgment was given for the amount claimed accordingly. ADJOUBNED CASES. The following cases were adjourned by consent for a week :— Eichard Onyen v. George Dalziel—a claim of £2 Os Id, for freight. T. Wells v. E. Morton—a claim of £1 12s 5d for goods. The Court then adjourned.
