The annual meeting of the shareholder* of this company was held this afternoon at the Mechanics'lnstitute, Mr. Robert Graham in the chair. The minutes of the last annual meeting were read, and one clause contained a vote of thanks to the late mine manager, Mr. Borthwick. On the motion being put to the meeting for their confirmation a very strong expression of dissent to this clause was given vent to ; the Chairman stated it was only a matter of form : confirming they were true records of that meeting. The whole were passed as read. The balance-sheet was read and adopttd, and from it we gather that 9955 tons were crushed, yielding 10,180 ounces melted gold, valued at £26,143 17s Id. The total receipts for the year, from September Ist, 1873, to Sept. 24th, 1874, £26,71313s Id. and the total expenditure^ £25,483 Is 9d, which includes £13,200 dividends, and leaving a balance in hand of £1,230 11s 4d. The surveyor's and mine manager'• reports were read and adopted. Mr. "Wilkinson was re-elected director, and Mr. Mackay in place of Mr. Somerfield. At the close of the business, the following proposition was put—That in the opinion of this n.eeting the mode of working the mine pursued by the late manager, Mr. Bothwick, was not such as conduced to the opening up of the company's property in the most legitimate and workmanlike manner, and that this meeting is desirous of recording such an opinion in the minutes of this meeting.
