A PARAWAI RATETAYER'S COMPLAINT.

(To the Editor of the Evening Star.) Si E) —l n the Advertiser of this daymay be seen an advertisement, signed bj the Town Clerk, calling for tenders far removal of night soil to Parawai. As a ratepayer of Parawai, I consider scch a notice by the Borough Council to be in exceedingly bad taste, and most offensive to the inhabitants of this district. If-the carting of the Municipal night soil into this district cannot legally be prevented, the Council might at least have exercised more courtesy to Parawai residents, and more discretion in framing this announcement. A few days ago I saw cartloads, brimful of nasty liquid muck, being transported from the Borough of.Thames into the Parawai district, and at every jolt of the carts the overflowing contents were distributed along our main road. Let the pre.sent District Board see to this at once, and to other matters requiring attention. The expressive folly in Grey-street into which they have allowed themselves to be Jed by the Borough Council; the disgraceful state of the Kollesfcon-street crossing; at the Hape Creek, notwithstanding the fact that a sum of money has been pro* mised to Parawai by tne Provincial Government to#ards the erection of a bridge; the inaction respecting cemetery matters, and other questions affecting the district, do net tend to improve the tempers of the ratepayers, or their confidence in the present District Board. —I am, &c, ABatepayeb. Parawai, September 22,1874.
