THE IMPERIAL CITY.
Work has been commenced in real earnest in this mine. The most likely work to give the soonest results has been started from the *JW"aiotahi Company's level—-from the engine shaft. lam informed that the reef suppqsed^to be that of the Manukau has been.flriyen on by the Imperial City Company, and shows a face of, stone about three feet thick, the lodle bearing very, nearly west. , It must be' remembered' that this is at; a' much higher level than that from which gold is so plentifully obtained in the Manukau; so that if anything good is struck on the present upper Imperial City workings, it wUJI enhance the value of the mine, very much, The fmperial City' Company are fortunate in aJJ Jthe situations of their ground. "As to the oijt-pjjt of any stuff they may send to the mill, their osm shaft is handy to the reef; the Manukau w ©He* ings are on the boundary; and the Company have, so to speak, opened their upper workings for tlicm.
