The only business at last evening's sitting of any interest wa« a motion by Mr. Murray to th« effect- that the nomination of tenants of the Crown to seats in the Legislative Council is highly objectionable and inconsistent with the independence of parliament. The motion led to'eonsiderable warmth of expression by some members.The Speaker thought the motion illconsidered and importinent. Mr. McLean hoped the ijood sense of the hon. member, would lead him to withdraw the motion. Mr. Fox considered the motion foolishly impertinent, and calculated to bring ridicalo upon the House. . : - Massrs. Reid, O'Connor, White, Tribe, andfl^liers concurred with the principle, though unwisely drawn up. ;: The motion was ultimately withdrawn, and the House adjourned. J Legislative Council.
