Thebb is every probability that the Thames portion of the English mail will 1 again be left behind. It was to close at the Post Office here at 2.30 this afternoon^ to be despatched by the Luna to-morrow; bmt as we learn there will be no steamer to the' Thames to-day the mail cannot possibly be sent. ' This is, too bad, being, the second consecutive mail which has been lost by the Thames through defective steam communication or untimely.; postal notices. To ensure the district .against the total loss of mail communication so often, it will be necessary to nave the mails sent away at an earlier day before the advertised time in Auckland, and afterwards make up a supplementary mail as opportunity may offer. We are in this respect worse off than many of the country districts ; and if something more than grumbling in a quiet way is not done there is every probability of things remaining as they are. One thing is urgently needed—a steamer that will run from Auckland and the Thames daily, in all weather and under all circumstances. As the case stands at present we are at the mercy of two or three individuals.
