Taoteanga, Tuesday. The bones of Eawiri, a great Tauranga rebel, were disintered lately and buried to-day in the Church Cemetery next tb Colonel Booth's grave, who fought against him, followed to the grave by three hundred native pall bearers and old European residents and leading citizens who respected the old warrior for being brave and merciful to European women and children in the hour of need. This day. A native at Opotiki yesterday tried to shoot himself four times, but all the caps snapped. Cobomandel, This day. The temporary stoppage of the Kapangn has caused a temporary depression among the men . employed. Work is likely. to be resumed at the commencement of next month. Dissatisfaction is general at the directors of the Harbor View for letting the mine on tribute without consulting the general body of the shareholders. General mining news is dull. Mr. Aitken, Consulting Engineer, is arranging for commencement of several public undertakings in various portions of the district.
