WARDEN'S COURT.

THIS DAT. (Before W. Fbaser, Esq., Warden) WILLIAM THOMAS V. GEOBGE SMITH. The case of the Queen of BeautyThomas v. Smith was called. Mr. Macdonald applied for an adjournment on account of the illness of one of the counsel, and the case was thereupon adjourned till this day week. DKAINAGKE CASES. The cases of the Pumping Association V, the Imperial Gr.M.Co. (Limited), the Otago GkM.Co. (Registered), and the Hazlebank G-.M-^o. (Registered) were down on the sheet for hearing this morning. Mr. Macdonald applied for an adjournment which was granted. H. M'ILBONE V. QUEEN OF THE THAMES G.M.CO. This was an action brought by the Inspector of Miners' Rights, against the above company, on the ground that said company hjui no£ taken out a miner's right to entitle them to occupy their ground for mining purposes. . Mr. Macdonald on behalf of .the complainant. J. Wardell, an agent, deposed—That ke was secretary to the Queen of the Thames Company. The company had been engaged in mjnjng operations for the last month. Witness had taken out a miner's right on thg 7th, but the pompany had not one previous to that. , ' His Worship aaid that under the circumstances he would let the defendant pff with the nominal penalty of 20s ; but after thij repeated warnings which had been given, he should, if any companies were brought before hid charged with the same neglect whose scrip was of value, fine them more heavily. The Court adjourned.
