NEW BATTERY ENTERPRISE.
Some time ago it was intimated in these columns that a new and powerful battery was projected, the site to be on the beach near to where the kerosene depot stood formerly. The plans for this undertaking have now been prepared, and it will be of a gigantic nature —in fact it is intended to make it the largest crushing plant on the field. As a preliminary step a tender has been accepted for the engine, which will be a powerful compound of y l5O horse power. ..._.lt will be larger-than -the engine at the Shortland Saw Mill or that at the Moanatairi Company's new battery. In fact it is said that when completed it will be the largest engine ever made in the colony. Messrs Price Bros, are the successful tenderers.for the engine, and the same firm have .recently obtained the contract for the Queen of the May and South British winding gear.
