THE WAIOTAHI.

The reef met with in the No. 2 stiaffc has been at length cut through, the footwall having been met with after sinking twenty feet through the reef. The stono has proved to be pretty much of the same character all through, tho lode assimilating in appearance in many points to that of the Manukau. In reaching the footwall no gold was visible in the stone, but that may be accounted for by the dirty sludge by which it is covered, consequent on •inking. What stuff is on the! surface will be put through the company's own mill as soon as horses can be got to draw it down to the mill. It is the manager's intention to open out on this reef and drive on it. The drive alongside the Imperial City boundary is being pushed ahead with all possible speed, and, as before reported, the reef in No. 2 shaft will be worked from it.
