Our Mining Reporter.

THE EXCHANGE.

On visiting the Exchange mine this morning I found that the reef ia the face has reduced in size, although under foot it continues fair width. This decrease in size has only occurred within the last few feet of driving, the reef being just as likely to horse out during the next shift or two as it has suddenly pinched in. The contractors have driven on the lode for about twenty-four feet, having made excellent progress since the commencement. The air in the mine seems better than it was the last time I was in it. There is a fair quantity of stufi in the paddock, but no word of crushing yet. .
