BAZAAR CONCERT.

I The first of,the four concerts by the members of the Choir of St. George's Church, the proceeds of which are to go towards providing funds for the Bazaar, was held in the Academy of Music last night. If the success which attended the concert and dance last night is to be taken as an indication, the projectors will have little cause to regrot taking the matter in hand, for the attendance was numerous, the seats in front and those upstairs were well filled before eight o'clock. The Choir gave a chorus (Carnival) as a commencement, after which Mr. W. C. Wright sang "Meet in the Lane, Love;'' very sweetly. Mr. Mackie thougha little nervous sang fairly, foJlowed by the inimitable Mr. Reid in a comic song. Miss McNeil was encored for " Maggie's Secret," and sang "I Cannot Sing those i Old Songs" very nicely. Mrs. Dodd and Miss Hamley sang a duett and were encored. Their singing was not as good as we have frequently heard them on former | occasions. The Cornish Glee Singers gave a nice quartette, " Sleep, Gentle yLady," very well, and upon an encore gave, a second one in their usual pleasing manner, followed by Mr. Airey, who sang the |'• White Squall" very truly and in good taste. The gem_of the evening was Miss Laura Wiseman's song, in which she showed how perfectly cultivated her voice is, and many of those present who previously heard Miss Wiseman sing remarked the improvement since she last contributed to the success of our local concerts. Upon being called again she sang sweetly —" Long Time Ago." Mr. Eeid a second time contributed some laughter by his comic songs, and the Choir in a chorus concluded the musical part of the entertainment." Mr. Owen played all the accompaniments in very good taste during the evening. The holders then of season tickets remained for the dance which gave universal satisfaction.
