THE CURE.

Mr. Crawford, the mine manager, this morning informed me .that the Mock lode running towards the Manukau, has much improved in strength and appearance, the vein having opened out considerably since my last report. The baser minerals still continue in * abundance in the stone, and Mr. Crawford assured me he had seen gold in thi "stuff. It is anything but likely stuff to see gold in, unless there is a great deal more in it than can possibly meet the eye, therefore the battery platts, which are the surest test, will probably give a better account of the stone than it seems to premise. It is encouraging, however,' t& know that there is gold in two of the leaders lately cut in the Cure mine.
