Fbom a telegram published in another column we gather that His Honor the Superintendent, in a message to the Council, has recommended the grant of - £1500 in addition to "the £1500 vpkccd on the estimates to assist the Thames Municipality. The wording of the telegram is certainly rather vague, but we assume that the message of His Honor refers to a second grant of £1500 from the sums at disposal of the Government, to be considered as a subsidy for 1875.* The conditions attached will be more intelligible when published in detail. His Honor trusts that this sum will enable the Borough to carry on until such times as the endowments are rendered available. Then we further learn that the Superintendent is not indisposed to hand over the Thames waterworks, on conditions, of course, to be agreed upon. If our assumption of the meaning of : JBia Honor's message be correct the concessions granted are more thanwe expected. It would appear that no action has been taken to appoint a Goldfields Secretary. n : I
