SHORTLAND VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE.
At a meeting of the brigade held last night, it appeared from the balance sheet that the sum of £99 14s had been raised by voluntary contributions and that more than £70 had been expended in appliances received from Sydney. The Brigade Committee having received an intimation from the Borough Council that they were willing to take over the maintanance' of the engine etc.i the whole entire plant was by a resolution handed over to that body../ * ' ; '.■':■"■■" '■''':*' ■■.:'" .
