WESLEYAN CHURCH BAZAAR.

A Bazaar was opened at the Academy of Music this afternoon by His Worship the Mayor.' The Academy was occupied up till^ last night by the dramatic company, consequently the preparations for the bazaar had, to be completed very hurriedly this morning, and the transformation has been most complete for so short a time. The hall is profusely decorated with flowers and evergreens, and looked very gay this afternoon. The -stalls run down each side of the building, while at the stage end, just under the footlights,; is placed the refreshment stall. The goods collected at this fancy fair comprise every variety of fancy article and many of a most useful character. As far as we could learn "from a hurried visit paid this afternoon the following ladies will preside at .the stalli Crump, Wilkinson, Heroii, Joytit, Russell, Bull, Richards, Stone, McNeill, Gribble; Heldt, Turner, Kernick and Scott, assisted by a number of ycung ladies. The refreshment table will be * presided over by Mrs Bull and Misses Richards, Stone, McNeill and Gribble.

At three o'clock precisely the bazaar was opened to. the public with some little ceremony. Rev. Mr Crump in introducing His Worship the Mayor stated that it was most gratifying to himself to see so good a display as the stalls presented, and gave the ladies great praise for the efforts they bad made. The Mayor who was received *» with cheers, said he would not detain the audience by a long speech. He was thoroughly aware that the Wesleyans as a body were most energetic in their proceedings, and he was most surprised and pleased at the manner in which the bazaar had been got up, and hoped that the members of other congregations'.would 7ielp to make the present effort of their Wesleyan friends a success. He most heartily complimented the ladies of the Bazaar Committee, ' and thanked those \ who had invited him to assist at the openirg for the compliment/ (Cheers.) -.
