THE MANAKAU.

The shots towards the Cure end of the mine put in yesterday threw a fine parcel of about lOOlbs. of specimens. This it must be remembered is from the face of a reef still 59 feet from the Gure boundary, but it should be borne in mind that the lode the shots were put in is a good strong leader. lam still of the opinion that the reef (he Cure Company is at present working on is not the same as that in the Manakau, and that the Manakau reef has never bsen touched by the Cure Company, and that it is a matter of only 59 feet of lode to prove wether the Manakau reef runs into the Cure or not. It is not fair to the public to report glowingly of any mine or reef neither is it fair to depress their pioperty, but so far as the Manakau and Cure are concerned relatively, unless' some sudden break in the reef now being worked on in the Manukau occurs, there is nothing to prevent the Cure being a a most valuable property, the more so as the reef from which their last payable crushing was obtained is almost to a certainty distinct from the Manukau. The Golden Crown will in all probability get the underlay, and richly the Golden Crown deserve good luck. The Manukau reef is strong enough as it is now.to hold its cleavage way through that company's ground and through the claims adjacent. There has always been a kind of lingering hope of something good from the claims on the Moanatairi and Waiotahi spurs, and an impression that the old rich leads had not died out. It is more than likely that the hope may becnme a cer. tainty. • ' >
