FROM CORRESPONDENTS.
Cobomandel, This day. About 3QO objections have been lodged against Coromandel and Thames names on the old and new lolls., Objections from the Thames must arrive in Coromandel by Wednesday's steamer to be in time; those arriving on Friday, though posted the day before, will not be received.
Dunedik, Saturday.
Two days ago a very strong letter appeared in the Guardian commenting on the action of the Judge in granting permission to the plaintiff in the action for libel against the Star to take copies of all telegrams that had passed between the defendant and his solicitor in reference to the case. The plaintiff's solicitor wrote to the directors of the Guardian demanding an apology, which they refused to give, and the solicitor, Mr. Macassay, will apply to the Judge on Monday to commit the editor of the Guardian to prison for contempt of Court. The Guardian has the sympathies of the public in this matter. "
