CHURCH PARADE.

The annual church parade of the Thames NavaV Brigade took place at St. George's yesterday morning, when the corps turned out in- large numbers accompanied by tke band. Out of compliment to the corps the Thames Scottish also turned out in good numbers;, also the, Thames Bifle Bangers, and Nos. 2 and 3 Hauraki Eifles. The excellent band of the Thames Scottish was present, and the two bands played alternately to and from church. We have not seen such a largo muster of volunteers for a long past, and it was satisfactory as showing that the spirit of volunteering had not died out in the district. The. men looked exceedingly smart, and marched in capital order, although from various causes the companies have lately augmented by recruits, who could scarcely be expected to maintain'the precision and steadiness of veterans. Major Gordon, Inspector of Volunteers, accompanied the parado in command, and w~ should fancy tliAt the muster,impressed him more favorably thSm the inspection of companies singly was) calculated to do. In a district like the Thame3, where so many men are engaged in mining, the attendance at parades on week days is scarcely a fair criterion of ,the actual strength of our volunteer companies.
