Victor liilibert Thatcher (29), single, drowned in shallow water before the eyes of a young lady on the beach. Deceased, who was a strung swimmer, set out to reach a rowing boat, but suddenl ysanlc when forty yards iiom the shore. The body was vor oyered. Decea.sed recently complained of heart trouble. CAR FATALITY. By Telegraph—Press Association. GISBORNE, March 3. A verdict of accidental death through the overturning of a car, which lie was driving, was returned at the inquest at Tokomaru Bav yesterday on Arthur Burt Wheat, killed on Friday night. DEATH FROM GUNSHOT. By Telegraph—Press Association. DUNEDIN, March 2. At nine o’clock this morning, a .single man, named Colin Campbell, aged twenty-two, was admitted to the hospital with a severe gunshot wound in His face. He was p aced on tho dangerously ill list, urul died at 1.30 this afternoon. Campbell had told his mother that tie was going into the back yard to shoot a cat, amt later she found him lying on the ground with a wound in his face.
BURNT SKELETON FOUND. By Telegraph—Press Association. HAMILTON, March 3. The skeleton of a man was found in some, scrub beside the railway fine two miles south of Hamilton. 'lLeman had probably been dead two years. A lire iiad passed through the scrub, and only remnants of clothing were left. The remains have not been identificated.
