Frederick Gear (23), labourer, married, with three of a family pleaded guilty to a charge of breaking and entering a house on Mountain Road, on the afternoon of March 29, and was committed to Wellington for; sentence. Accused was surprised by the return of the owner, add scrambled out of : the window and ran away. Nothing was missed from the house. Two fireinen mn the steamer Kaikorai, George Norman Godfrey (25) and Sydney Oils (38), pleaded guilty in the* Police Court to embezzling six cases of wine, valued at £2O, while the vessel was on the way from Adelaide to Auckland. Chief Detective Cummings said accused took u cases from the bold , to their quarter. , and when they had drunk the wine, threw the bottles out of the port holes. At the Magistrate’s Court tins morning, Norman Lsaiu Cole, and William Alfred .Cole, owners of a fish shop and restaurant in- Te Kuiti, were charged with keep’ng a common gaming house.
