Eddying currents ar e carrying wreckage through the open front doors of tiie Palace. An army of convicts was among those recruited to strengthen the embankments. 'Hie convicts were . flooded out of their prison and ure working under aimed guards. The breach is rapidly widening. Only the tops of tlie carnages are visible at the railway station.
