The Australian Labour Party Conference decided in view of Mr Lang’s promise do . abolish the Legislative Council, that lie instead of the caucus should be empowered to select future appointees from nominations submitted by the Labour Party Executive. Mr Lang has invited the live Labour members of the Upper House, who have been expelled from the Labour movement, to resign their seats in the Upper House. Mr Akhurst, on 0 of the expelled members declared that lie is still firm in his loyalty to Labour principles, and bitterly resented hi.-; case being tried by the conference in his absence. He believed the surest way to prevent the abolition of the Council would ho to keep on expelling Labour members ad infinitum.
