There was glorious weather lor the final day ol the Australian Jockey Club’s autumn meeting, and the course was in good order. The attendance numbered 46,000. Chief interest centred in the 'Heroic-Windbag tussle for fife A.J.C. Plato. The four horses took matters easily for the first half of the journey, Windbag and Heroic disputing. the honours over only the last- lew furlongs. Munro, when he had the measure of Heroic, crossed to the rails in front of the stand, hut did not interfere with the. latter. , A protest was entered, hut was soon dismissed amid cheers. Royal Tea flattered his admirers all .the way down the straight in the Nursery, hut was unable to resist a bold challenge by Vallum. Baker, rider of Goorinipa in the Steeplechase, * sustained. concussion when his mount fell throe furlongs from the post. Goorimpa died from, an injury to the spine. In . the same rape Jurisprudence threw Webster in tho second round in front of the stand.' Tiie jockey's skull cap was kicked • off, and lie sustained concussion and other injuries. Results:— ROUS HANDICAP, of 1000 sovs; 7 furlongs.—First Division : Red Gauntlet 11.4, 1; Yillcroy 7.0, 2; Quixotic 9.4, :i. Seven teen started. Red Gauntlet made a bad start, hut won by magnificent efforts of his jockey, J. E. Pike, by a head. Time, 1 min 2Gsoc. Second Division : Lovebox 8.2, 1 ; Kalare 7.9, 2; Mcrrabooka 8.0, 11. Sixteen stalled. Valiant was left at tho post. Quirk made the running -till the half distance, where Lovebox shot from the hunch and struggled gamely with Aniouiiis to the post, and won by half a bead. Time, lmin 253 sec. Amounts was not placed, apparently being obliterated by the winner. DANG All HANDICAP, of 1000 sovs;- l£ .miles. —Pantheon 9.0, .1; Player 7.0, 2; Night Heron 7.2, 3. Fifteen started. Pantheon got a lucky run on the rails and won by half a head. Time, 2min 3-lseo.

Royal Tea was promin-' ent into the straight, and seemed a. certain winner until a furlong from the post, Vallino winning on the rails by two lengths. Time, lmin 38Jscc. A.J.C. PLATE, of 2000 sovs; 2} miles.—Windbag (J. Munro) 9.0, 1;) Heroic (H. Cairns) 9.0, 2; Pilliewinkio (G. Young) 9.1, 3. David (Lewis) 9.4, was the only other starter. Heroic with a flying start, gained a lead of four lengths, but the field was soon hunched in a canter. David led into the straight, but at the stand Pillicwinkic went to the front: Tho pace was not put on till passing the six furlongs post, where Heroic joined Pillirwinkie. Windbng then threw out a challenge, and entered the straight level with Heroic. A stirring struggle ensued between the pair, Windbag, eventually taking charge and resisting a final challenge by Heroic, to win by half a length. Pilliewinkio was four lengths behind Heroic. A protest was lodged by Heroic’s connections, hut was dismissed.
