H. Allcliurch and Co. report for tho Week ended April 3:—’We held, our Weekly Rialto sale on Wednesday 31st of Good Friday), when we had a large entry of poultry, but the entry 'of pigs was ss-nll, only one pen being yarded. Prices realised were as follows : Poultry.—Hens 2s 3d to 2s 9d, cockerels, heavy 4s Gd to Gs, others 2s to 3s, roosters 3s, ducks 4s Gd to 6s, all at per pair; geese 3s 9d to 4s 3d each; turkeys (hens) Bs. 8s Gd, 9s each. Pigs.—Wcaners 15s Gd and 17s each. Produce—Wheat 17s Gd to 235; bacon, shoulders lOd to _ls per lb, bran 1201bs 12s per bag, onions 12s Gd to 14s Gd'per cental. Fruit.—Apples, dessert lid to 2pi per lb, cookers Id to 1-Jd lb; plums to 21d lb, pears Id to 2d lb, peaches 3d to 3pi lb, ; tomatoes 2d to 3pi lb. Eggs.—The supply of Circle eggs has fallen off during tile past week, consequently the demand is much keener and prices have advanced, the market standing at 2s 3d per do sen. Furniture and effects. —On Wednesday wo disposed of a fair quantity of furniture and effects at satisfactory prices. Property Department.—Business in this department has been quieter than •usual, owing no doubt to the Easter holidays. . , , /.MORTON. AND CO. Messrs Morton and Co., Ltd. renort for tho week ended April 3rd as follows Our weekly sale, which was held on Thursday, was well attended, and a good clearance made, poultry especially meeting a strong demand. Supplies of eggs were inclined to he short, and prices were firmer. Property .was again well inquired for, and good business was done.
Clearing sales.—On Tuesday, we held a removal sale of Mr Z. Beri’s surplus stock at his old premises, Stafford Street. A large number of buyers were in attendance, and good prices were realised for ail lots. A very successful clearing sale was also held on Wednesday for Mr W. K. McDonald at his' residence, Chalmers Street. An exceptionally good attendance of the public was in evidence, and spirited bidding resulted in a full clearance being made at highly satisfactory prices. Fruit was again in keen demand, and good prices were realised for all dessert lines. A consignment of Fiji bananas came to hand in ripe condition, and commanded a ready sale. Auckland grown passions also sold well. Tomato crops generally were considerably affected by the colder weather, and supplies wore much lighter. Stone fruit is practically finished for tho season. Prices realised last week were: — Fruit.—Apples, delicious 10s Gd to 11s 6d case, Jonathan 9s Gd to 11s Gd, Cox’s Orange. 7s ■6d to 12s, cookers 4s to Gs Gd; pears, dessert 9s to 10s ease, 4s to 5s small case, cookers 3s Gd to 2d to 2-Id lb; grapes, local Is 3d lb; Fiji bananas 24s to 30s ease; Auckland passions 8s Gd to 11s; Italian oranges 20s to 22s Gd, Italian lemons 20s to 255; encumbers, hothouse 4d to 7d lb, outside grown 4s Gd ease; tomatoes, choice 3d to 3?,d 'b, medium 2d to 2J, small 1 dto lid lb. Vegetables.—Cauliflower 2s to 6s dozen, cabbage Is to 3s dozen, lettuce Is to 2s dozen. Produce. —Table potatoes, whites Id to ljcl lb, reds 12s to 16s sack: swede turnips 3s Gd kit; wheat 25s to 26s sack, oats 245, peas 245, bran 12s 6d, pollard 20s; chaff 5s to 8s; onions 13s cental. Poultry.—Hens, 2s 9d to 4s 3d pair, cockerels 3s 3d to 4s 3d pair pullets 13s pair; ducks 5s to Gs 3d pair; geese 4s Gd to Gs each ; turkey gobblers 10s to 15s each, hens 7s to 10s each.
